Our COVID-19 Elopement

Houston, TX

We got engaged in February, right before our worlds were turned upside down with coronavirus. With all the uncertainty, we decided to elope.

On April 29th, we got married.

One of my older sisters got ordained and flew in from Boston (in the thick of the pandemic) to perform the ceremony so we could legally be married. I didn’t have any special outfits (and couldn’t go shopping thanks to the pandemic) so I wore an old saree from my closet and he wore an old navy suit.

Three of our Houston friends came with us to witness our wedding and help take photos with one of my cameras (we also had a tripod and working remote this time for group photos).

We drove with our friends, sister, and our dogs to a private location I found with a massive live oak tree covered in Spanish moss.

We are so thankful for my sister and these friends. We still want to share our marriage with all of our friends and families so we are planning to have a bigger wedding next spring. Here’s hoping all the travel restrictions are lifted by then so all of our loved ones can be with us!

Also, can I just point out that every girl needs a hype girl who is as excited for them as my dear friend Taylor is in the photo here 😂
